Faglig innhold

The subject is comprised of studies of space, both in physical, philosophical and psychological terms. Thematically, the program is composed of analyses of common/public space and temporality in the contexts of both architecture and visual art. The aim is to generate connections and collaborations between architecture and art students which will contribute to a deeper understanding of the specific qualities and aesthetic demands within both fields.

Læringsmål

Students from architecture and fine art will establish a common ground for understanding and critical assessment of public spatial issues in todav’s society. A greater understanding of historical, philosophical, material and methodological connections between architecture and art.

Læringsformer og aktiviteter

a) Art & Common Space –theory / mandatory Through lectures, reading and participation in discussions the aim is to raise awareness of the challenges within the field. The student will obtain general experience and knowledge in visualizing and comprehending theories of art and public space. In addition. planning and carrying out temporal site-specific events (workshops, performance) – interventions in social or public space – with critical-theoretical foresight and rigour. b) Tutorials offered by all Professors. 2 x tutorials per term are mandatory.
