The program comprises both theory and analyses and practical adaptations of different methods which help to increase the understanding of contemporary society and thereby the role of common/public space within it. The focus is directed both to combinations of architecture and art in built milieus and in the construction of public space. The emphasis is on a critical understanding of our time and encounters with and within todays public.
Læringsmål
Students from architecture and fine art establish a common ground for understanding and critical assessment of
spatial issues in todays society, especially connected to public space. Understanding of historical and philosophical connections between architecture and art should be strengthened. An introduction to theories of public space and public art/architectural practices.
Læringsformer og aktiviteter
a) Art & Common Space theory / mandatory (7,5pt)
Through lectures, reading and participation in discussions the aim is to raise awareness of the challenges within the field. The student will obtain general experience and knowledge in visualizing and comprehending theories of art and public space. In addition. planning and carrying out temporal site-specific events (workshops, performance) interventions in social or public space with critical-theoretical foresight and rigour.
