The School and the Society

The course includes knowledge and reflection of the schools' social function and the value basis for education throughout the school system.The subject includes understanding of the term formation/buildung [dannelse] and the teachers' responsibility for democratic education and sustainable development for each student, school and society. The course gives knowledge on the vocational training in a historical, cultural, multi cultural and ethical perspective. Insight and understading for establishing international collaboration is highlighted. The course includes analysis of educational policy and evaluations of the society's educational needs within the students own vocation. The course also includes knowledge on potential conflict and conflict management in school and other learning arenas.

The course is taught through on-campus-gatherings in addition to work requirements between these. The work forms change between lectures, workshops, dramatization, collaborative groups, discussions, presentations and the like. All teaching is obligatory. The subjects includes both vocational didactics and vocational pedagogics.
