Asset Management for urban water infrastructure

Service life asessment for water and wastewater networks, forecasting performance, reliability of water and wastewater services, selection of materials and methods to obtain sustainability, use of modelling tools.

Knowledge:

• The candidate should have knowledge of life cycle assessment for water and wastewater networks and forecasting performance, reliability of water and wastewater services.
• The candidate should be able to consider the application of various analytical methods in the field, and to contribute to the development of new theories and methods in the field.

Skills:

• The candidate should master selection of materials for assessment and the use of relevant methods to obtain sustainability, and be able to make use of modeling tools.
• The candidate should be able to use these skills to perform research at a high international level.
• The candidate should be able to assess the work of others on the same level.

General competence:

• The candidate should be able to use knowledge from the discipline for scientific assignments and projects, and to publish research and development results in recognized national and international channels.

Guided self study, workshops, developments of a paper based on selected topic.

The sessions will have a program according to the following structure:

• Introduction of the topic of the day - instructor
• Review of the selected articles v / participants
• Review and discussion of presented studies
• Possible guest lecture
• Summary / conclusion

Selected papers will be distributed in advance prior lectures and each candidate will be asked to present one at the coming session. At an early stage of the course, topics for individual study will be selected.

The course will be considered successfully completed if in addition to showing achieved knowledge on the topics presented, the student will have produced an individual work in the form of a paper before the date of the exam.
