About this course

Content

This course contains important topics in ecohydraulics and ecohydrology. Environmental impact assessment strategies, modern environmental flow methods, integrated modelling of river systems for environmental analysis, restoration and rehabilitation of rivers and mitigation strategies. The majority of the course content will be adapted to the interest of the participants.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

The course will provide advanced knowledge of impacts of encroachments on river systems. The candidate should have knowledge on the most recent methods for impact analysis and mitigation using ecohydrological and ecohydraulic tools. The candidate should further know the most common modelling tools that is applied within the field and how they are applied.

Skills:

The candidate should master the methods in practical impact assessments and be able to employ ecohydraulics and ecohydrological methods in analysis and mitigation of impacts.

General competence:

The candidate should be able to use knowledge from the discipline for scientific assignments and projects, and to publish research and development results in recognized national and international channels.

Teaching methods

Seminar, exercises, project work, depending on the number of students. Evaluation based on a project report which is the main activity of the course.This should be presented and discussed with the group and the evaluators on the exam.. To pass the course a score of at least 70 percent is required. The course will only be lectured for phd-students, and will be arranged when needed.
