Counselling from a Holistic Group Perspective

Everyone has experience of participating in groups. With the students’ experiential knowledge as a starting point the students will study different group perspectives. How do patterns of action and collaboration and personal preferences affect group processes? How does the need of counselling practices emerge in different group contexts? How can counselling practices and helping processes be understood in different systems that individuals are part of? These are questions that will be explored in this course.

The student will acquire knowledge about basic helping perspectives in the group context and develop insight into how helping can be facilitated in groups and organizations. Furthermore, the student will acquire theoretical understanding of how different systems may affect helping processes.

Lectures and seminars. If 10 or fewer students attend the course in the first two weeks of teaching, the course will be given as an individual study course with supervision. Take a look at Blackboard for detailed information about compulsory assignment. Some of the teaching may be in English.
