Adult Learning: Diversity and Inclusion

The course will introduce the different requirements, conditions and possibilities that influence adults' participation in learning, in working life and in society. Motivation and facilitation of learning are central topics, related to adults' different life situations, experiences, lifestyles, cultures, values, social backgrounds and social positions. There will be a particular focus on political intentions and goals, theoretical and pedagogical perpectives, previous research concerning diversity and inclusion.

The student has knowledge of adults' conditions and opportunities for learning and inclusion in working life and society. The student has insight into, and understanding of different political, theoretical and pedagogical perspectives as well as relevant inclusion and diversity incentives and actions. The student can make use of this knowledge to describe and analyse what influences adults' opportunities for learning and participation. In addition, the student can critically assess and discuss relevant issues related to inclusion and diversity with others.

Lectures and seminars. If 10 or fewer students attend the course in the first two weeks of teaching, the course will be given as an individual study course with supervision. Take a look at Blackboard for detailed information about compulsory assignments.
