Adult Learning from an Educational Policy Perspective

The course addresses adult learning as a national and international political area (in the past and present). he course emphasizes particularly political ideas and intentions with adult learning and adult's opportunities for learning, education and competence building within a social framework. The course deals with how policy is designed, adopted and implemented and the implications it has for adult learning. Furthermore, the course deals with the links between modern education, competence and welfare policy and adult opportunities for learning and competence development.

The student has knowledge and understanding of the political knowledge base for adult learning. The student develops insights of key concepts, as well as the adoption and implementation of laws and reforms. The student can apply this knowledge to describe and analyze how policies affect adults' learning opportunities. In addition, the student has skills in critically assessing and disseminating different policy intentions regarding adult learning, as well as ability to discuss current educational policy issues with others.

Lectures and seminars. If 10 or fewer students attend the course in the first two weeks of teaching, the course will be given as an individual study course with supervision. Take a look at Blackboard for detailed information about compulsory assignments.
