German Literature and Culture 3

Literary and cultural issues and relations are analysed in thematic perspectives that may transcend both period and genre.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate

- has knowledge of content, form and function within German literary and cultural expressions

- has knowledge of German literature and culture as fields of study

PROFICIENCY

The candidate

- is able to analyse and contextualise these expressions and present them as part of a larger picture

- is able to reflect on cultural relations, e.g. meetings between the Scandinavian and German cultures

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The candidate

- has acquired an extended understanding of the interrelation between literature and culture

Lectures and group sessions.

Compulsory assignment:

- 1 oral presentation in German (approx. 10 minutes)

- 1 written assignment in German (approx. 1200-2000 words)

- 75% mandatory attendance (in lectures and seminars)

The absence limit is intended to cover normal sick leave and similar situations. Therefore, you will not be granted valid absence from teaching based on a medical certificate, even if the absence is due to circumstances beyond your control.

In special cases, agreements for exemption can be made with the course coordinator, preferably at the start of the semester.

Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).
