Services and Systems Engineering, Specialization Course

Current and advanced topics in model-based engineering of distributed applications such as development of self-adaptable systems, in particular with OSGi, as well as aspects of making systems secure, dependable, and high-performing.

The mandatory theme has the following goals:
A. Knowledge:
1) Understanding of fundamental techniques and principles for self-adaptation.
2) Deep understanding of selected techniques and solutions.
3) Awareness of selected technical systems.

B. Skills:
Practical development of a select application case.

C. General competence:
Experience from writing a state-of-the-art essay based on a literature study.

The course is taught according to the principle of team-based learning. It consists of individual work, group work and immediate feedback. The objective is to foster active participation from the students in the course. The principle is explained at www.teambasedlearning.org. The readiness assurance tests, however, are replaced by oral presentations by the students.
