About this course
Content
The course is taught every second year.
The subject contains acoustic waves in gas and fluid media, wave equations, reflection and transmission between two fluid media, from multi-layers and thin elastic plate. Furthermore, the course deals with room acoustics, reverberation and statistic aspects and vibration from source and vibrating bodies; effects of viscosity and other dissipations; scattering and diffractions; ray acoustics and nonlinear effects in acoustic wave propagations.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: The candidate has: Good knowledge for -deep understanding of physical principles and theoretical treatment of some key issues and issues for use in audiology, noise control, room acoustics, marine acoustics and medical ultrasound; - methods for acoustic wave formation, reflection, scattering and absorption.
Skill: The candidate can - model and analyze wave fields in acoustic media; - use physical principles and acoustic methods to analyze phenomena in audiology, noise reduction, room acoustics, marine acoustics and medical ultrasound.
General competence: The student can gain experience in using theoretical methods to solve practical tasks related to acoustic applications.
Teaching methods
Lectures, colloquiums and self-exercises.
