About this course
Content
The course gives a thorough introduction to communication theory for modern wireless communication systems. The selection of topics might depend somewhat on the interests of the participants, but will typically include: Statistic modelling and analysis of fading channels, MIMO systems, space-time coding, multiple-access techniques in cellular systems, opportunistic and cooperative transmission schemes, interference-limited wireless networks, and link adaptation in wireless systems.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: 1) Understanding of modern communication theory for wireless
communication systems, theoretical performance limits, and optimization methods
for such systems. 2) Understanding of the theoretical principles of advanced
methods in wireless communication systems.
Skills: Ability to apply communication theoretic tools to analyse, design
and optimize wireless communication systems and their parts.
Teaching methods
Lectures, colloquia, seminars, and self study
