Content
Critical thinking Various cultural definitions and concepts. Culture in light of history and religion. The interface between culture and management. The interface between culture and corporate culture. The interface between nationality, culture and cultural subgroups like profession, sex etc. Reflect over the relationship between culture and individual differences. New research directions
Learning outcomes
Learning outcome: be able to use concepts and models in relations to culture has thorough knowledge of the scholarly theories and methods in the field of leadership hold advanced knowledge regarding culture and culture differences in organizations with an international working milieu, as well as intercultural communication and mangement. This will be illustrated through empirical examples from, amongst others, petro-maritime companies. be able to analyze cultural dilemmas with basis in cultural dimensions, history and religion. be able to use cultural dimensions to interpret other people's choices and actions in concrete situations be able to analyze and reflect on his/her own cultural and professional identity be able to analyze national and cultural issues which impact on the daily running of an organization, so that they may be utilized in strategies and planning
Teaching methods
Teaching methods and activities: Lectures, individual and group exercises (some to be presented in class), and simulations (table-top) to ensure a thorough understanding of how the theory can be applied in realistic situations Mandatory Requirements: Each group is required to present 1 - 2 group exercises. Students are expected to be present minimum 80 % of the time meant for group exercises.
