Lean and Agile Methods

What lean and agile methods are and how they might be used in maritime and project based industry. PDCA and continuous improvement. System thinking and the Deming System of profound knowledge (SoPK). Knowledge:

The student shall document knowledge to the background of lean methodology and agile methods and how lean and agile methods might be used in projects and project based industry. Furthermore, the student shall document knowledge of the use of processes, tools, methods and terminology that is used within lean and agile methods. Have knowledge of how lean and agile methods might be used within innovation and product development.

Skills:

The student shall understand, as well as be able to use basic methods within projects in the maritime industry and project based organisations. Furthermore, the student shall understand the possibilities and limitations that follow the use of lean and agile methods within projects and project based industry. The student shall be able to execute and lead good processes related to lean and agile methods within project based industry.

Competence:

Have an understanding of what lean and agile methods are, and the opportunities and limitations the two 'philosophies' have. The student shall have a good understanding and knowledge of the methods and tools which are used within lean and agile methods. The student shall further be able to discern how lean and agile methods separate from traditional methods and tools within project execution. The student shall have knowledge and competence about the challenges of implementing lean and agile methods in the maritime industry. Furthermore, the student shall be able to understand and apply a problem-solving methodology based on relevant lean tools.
