About this course

Content

The course presents students for organizational theory and topics within a maritime context. The students will get introduced to the maritime value chain. Using maritime examples in the discussion of more generic organizational topics and theories will ensure the students are also introduced to terminology relevant for working in maritime organizations.

Organizational issues are central in the cooperation between sea and land. The course is designed as a joint course for shipping and nautical studies, and the teaching design emphasizes practical assignments in groups with representatives from both studies. This is done to create a common frame of reference as well as give the students an insight into different perspectives from sea and land. Exercises in the simulator will be used to further explore the connection between sea and land in organizational matters.
