Introduction to Supply Chain Management

Introduction to basic quantitative topics within logistics such as forecasting, production planning and inventory control.

Use of simple forecasting methods

Planning at different levels given varying degrees of detailing and different time horizons are examined, and JIT (Just In Time)

Using Lean and Theory of Constraints as manufacturing philosophy is discussed.

Key concepts and themes in the supply chain management (logistics in a channel perspective)

 Use of the most important quantitative models for inventory management and production planning, including the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) -model

The basic principles of management of large and capital intensive procurement projects in relation to alternative project organization strategies.

Pedagogiske metoder:

Lectures, case exercises. The course is held in Norwegian or English. 

Obligatoriske arbeidskrav:

2 mandatory assignments must be passed in order to take the exam. Coursework must be delivered in the same semester as the exam is taken.
