About this course
Content
Additive manufacturing, machine tools, machining operations, vibration analysis and vibration damping in machining, manufacturing metrology and quality engineering, computer-aided design manufacturing (CAD/CAM), modelling and simulation of manufacturing systems.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The student should have theoretical and practical knowledge of selected areas within the areas of engineering design and manufacturing technology for applications in various industries. The student should have knowledge of advanced programming tools and computational methods that can be used to develop modern manufacturing systems.
Skills:
The student should be able to work structured with a research- and development project. The student should be able to work analytically, and apply theoretical knowledge to find solutions to complex problems. One should be able to obtain the necessary information through literature studies and from other sources, and be able to plan and carry out experiments in the laboratory. One should be able to describe project work and results in a clear report, and be able to contribute to scientific publication.
General competences:
The students should have the competence to plan and accomplish larger tasks. One should be able to analyze results, make assessments and draw relevant conclusions. One should have the competence to assess technological, ethical and social consequences of one's own work.
Teaching methods
Independent research work.
The language of supervision depends on what has been agreed on with the supervisor. The master's thesis can be written in Norwegian or English.
Incoming exchange students who want to write a master's thesis at MTP can contact studier@mtp.ntnu.no to receive the MTP agreement. The agreement must be signed by all parties before the student arrives in Trondheim.
