About this course

Content

Computer-aided manufacturing, additive manufacturing processes, design for additive manufacturing, advanced CNC programming, advanced machining theory, vibration damping in machining operations, vibration measurements and analysis, optimization of manufacturing processes.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

The student should have knowledge about CAM systems and their integration with manufacturing equipment. The student should have knowledge about vibration measurements and analysis, and be able to use the measurement results to improve manufacturing operations. The student should have knowledge about additive manufacturing.

Skills:

The student should be able to use Matlab/Python for modelling, simulation, and optimization. The student should be able to use advanced programming tools for additive manufacturing and CNC machining.

General competences:

The student should have an overview of advanced computer-aided manufacturing and know possibilities and limitations of modern programming tools. The student should have general competence about modelling and optimization of manufacturing processes.

Teaching methods

Lectures, assignments, laboratory exercises. The lectures, exercises and exam are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
