About this course
Content
Introduction on industrial logistics systems and facility planning.
Design of production systems: product-quantity analysis, production line design and management, shop-floor design and management, cellular manufacturing and FMS. Layout Design using advanced data-driven approaches and digital tools (simulation)
Design of assembly systems: introduction: cluster analysis, task definition and precedence diagram. Assembly systems layout, Workstation layout, Flexible Assembly Systems. Time Measurement System and Ergonomics. Design and balancing of assembly systems.
Design of material handling systems (material transport equipment and warehouses). New Technologies in Industrial Logistics. In-house, In-bound and out-bound logistics.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- Knowledge about the design of production and logistics system through active learning-by-doing approach in Logistics 4.0 Lab
- Understanding and use of analytical methods and techniques, and advanced digital tools.
- Insight into what constitute core technologies and automation in logistics.
- Fundamental understanding of report-writing.
Skills:
- Ability to apply acquired knowledge for developing holistic sustainable solutions within production and logistics system design.
- Ability to transform theories into practical application based on well-founded choices of relevant alternative solutions.
- Critically and independently evaluate analytical tools, methods, technical models and solutions.
