About this course

Content

Electrical circuits and components. Digital circuits, digital numbers. Sampling and quantization. Analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion. Sensors and actuators. Electric motors. Programming of microcontrollers and interfacing for typical peripherals. Basic control-theory.

Learning outcomes

The course shall give knowledge about:

  • Simple electrical circuits and electrical components.
  • Basic digital technology and digital signals.
  • Architecture, programming and interfaces for microcontrollers.
  • Simple feed-back controllers such as PID.

The course shall develop skills in:

  • Solve for current and voltage in simple electical circuits.
  • Progamming of microcontrollers.
  • Simple feed-back control.
  • Plan and build simple mechatronic systems.
  • Make informed choices of components, mechanisms, and control algorithms.

The course shall give general competence in:

  • Development of mechatronic systems.

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises and laboratory tasks, both individual and group tasks.
