Specialization in Sub Surface Management

Review of the phenomena governing the production of oil and gas fields. Review of the working processes of the subsurface disciplines and the needs for integrating and cross discipline information in field design and operations. Review and analysis several field cases from new and mature fields. In depth discussions of several selected issues. These will be announced at the beginning of the semester.

Knowledge:
The student should have the knowledge on how to integrate relevant aspects from several subsurface disciplines for the purpose of design and plan the development and operations of oil and gas fields.

Skills:
The student should know how to perform reservoir material balance and how to calculate initial oil and gas in place. The student should have basic skills in use of reservoir simulator. The student should have the skills to extract information from geological and petrophysical models and to input it to reservoir models.

General competence:
Basic knowledge of petroleum geology and petrophysics. Basic knowledge of reservoir simulation and reservoir engineering. Basic knowledge of production engineering.

The course is intended for international MSc students in Angola. The course will be presented in Angola. The learning is based on lectures, class exercises, group and individual exercises, and individual or small group project assignments.
