About this course

Content

Repetition of the Laplace transformation. Solutions of the diffusivity equation. Elementary discussion of Bessel functions. Flow period diagnostic. Limiting equations. Well test interpretation in homogeneous, fractured and layered reservoirs. Horizontal wells. The pressure derivative. The effect of anisotropy. Multi-phase flow. Multi-rate testing. Constant pressure testing.

Learning outcomes

Ingress:
Well test analyses, interpretation and the mathematical background.

Knowledge:
Practical and theoretical insight into well test interpretation.

Skills:
Identification of specific flow periods. Know how to choose and apply mathematical models.

General competence:
Understand how well test interpretation may be used to obtain the productivity of wells.

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. (PBL). The lectures are held in English and the examination papers will be given in English only. Students are free to choose Norwegian or English for written assessments.
