About this course

Content

The course is built around several assignments about building a graphical user interface design. Topics include writing for web, information architecture, interface design, images, usability testing, design for behavior, and ethics. The project includes paper prototyping, graphic design, digital prototyping and simulation of interactivity using prototying technology like Figma, Illustrator and Photohop

All assignments are handed inn at end of term as a basis for evaluation.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge objectives

  • The student will know the steps in a web design process: Information architecture, writing for web, paperprototyping, wireframes and usability testing, GDPR, WCAG, web systainability, image types, layout, composition ,and animation. Trustworthiness, dark patterns, and ethics will be discussed.
  • Students will understand principles for good design for each step in the process

Skill goals

  • Practical experience in design of the components that make up a graphical user interface with the case of designing a web site.

General competence

  • The student will be able to organize information, and create interfaces and choose the right interaction patterns to create an engaging and usefull user experience.

Teaching methods

Weekly lectures support several assignments. Peer reviews of student progress on a biweekly basis.
