• identify the most important factors influencing the need for maritime transport
• document in-depth knowledge of the most important shipping markets
• use scientific methodology and working methods for the development of written reports.
• independently update knowledge in the field through literature searches, contact with academic communities and by revision of their own practice.

Skills:

• identify and describe the most important shipping markets and drivers for supply and demand in the markets.
• explain shipbroking and the shipbroker's most important tasks.
• explain the tasks of the ship agent, line agent, claims agent.
• master the differences between the different forms of chartering and the main content of central documents in chartering.
• perform written and oral presentations.

General competence:

• ability to assess the environmental, ethical and economic impacts of maritime transport in a local and global perspective and apply this knowledge.
• active participation in professional discussions and ability to share knowledge and experiences with others.
• contribute to the development of good practice in the field.
• ability to communicate academic information orally and in writing.
