Terrestrial and Celestial navigation

Knowledge: The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of classical and basic navigation methods in accordance with relevant parts of STCW chapter II / 1 and II / 2 and STCW code A-II / 1 function navigation at the operational level and STCW code A-II / 2 function navigation at the management level In-depth knowledge of radio communication with DSC at the operational level

Skills: be able to solve theoretical, technical and practical problems related to basic navigation of ships. be able to use methods, simulators and other tools that form the basis for navigating ships, safely and efficiently and contribute to both analytical, structured, targeted and innovative work. Be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of navigation-related geodetic topics such as the earth's shape, coordinate system, geodetic dates and general map theory. Be able to use terrestrial and astronomical navigation methods.

General competence: Be able to convey knowledge within the subject area to different target groups both in writing and orally in Norwegian and English be able to actively participate in professional discussions and the ability to share their knowledge and experiences with others and contribute to the development of good practice.
