About this course

Content

Electrochemical phenomena like: electrical double layer, adsorption, electrokinetic phenomena (electro-osmosis, electroforesis), electrocatalysis (reaction of hydrogen/oxygen/methanol), charge transfer on metals and semi-conductors, electrochemical energy storage.

Learning outcomes

The main goal with the course is to give a deeper understanding of electrochemical processes with respect to reaction mechanisms, kinetics of the reactions and the dependence on the elctrode material (electrocatalysis). Processes relevant for energy storage devices are also included.

Teaching methods

Lectures and study groups, laboratory exercises and tutorials. The laboratory exercises are compulsory. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
