Control of freeboard, intact-stability, damage-stability and buoyancy. Stability accidents. Characteristics for semi submersible platforms. Application of computer programs in design and stability calculations. The aspects of the design process in greater depth. Short introduction to logistics for design and operation. Project evaluation / economic criteria. Short on the cost structure in shipping and the shipping company's business functions. LAB Demo (resource dependent). Compulsory project regarding design/operation of a semi submersible platform or other vessel.
Learning outcomes
The subject will give the students an introduction to preliminary design and operation of displacement vessels.
Teaching methods
