Industrial ICT Engineering Design and Materials, Specialization Course

This course is assembled from two modules of 3.75 study points each, all together 7.5 study points. Each student shall in agreement with the adviser for the project work select two modules of 3.75 study points each from the following list: TMM2 Product Simulation, TMM14 ICT for Integrated Operations. For the industrial ICT specialization at least one of the modules above must be selected. As module no. 2 may the student in agreement with the adviser select among modules of size 3.75 study points from other specializations at IPM (TMM4506, TMM4516).

This course gives deeper understanding in key subjects related to the actual product development project work.

Knowledge
Dependent of Specialization project an MSc candidate has knowledge of (alternative):
- Theory for product simulation (TMM2)
- Control of machines (TMM12)
- Implementation of KBE-systemers
- In addition to the referred knowledge above, another module delivered by the department must be selected.

Skills
An MSc candidate can:
- Utilize learned methods and theory in the specialization project carried out in the same semester.

General Competence
An MSc candidate can:
- Apply learned knowledge to carry out research related tasks in the specialization project.

The modules are thought as guided self studies accompanied with a few seminars during the semester. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course. If the teaching is given in English the Examination papers will be given in English only. Students are free to choose Norwegian or English for written assessments. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral. The grade in the course is based on the average of both modules. However, in order to be eligible to receive this grade, both modules must receive a passing score.
