Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
After passing the course, the candidate must have knowledge of:
- Different welding, joining, and direct energy deposition additive manufacturing processes
- Welding performance of steels, stainless steels, Al--based and Ni-based alloys, and their physical metallurgy
- Welding procedure specification development based on welding standards and codes
- Weld monitoring, non-destructive testing, and mechanical testing.
Skills:
After passing the course, the candidate:
- Can correlate the process parameter to the final welding microstructure and performance using physical metallurgy and heat transfer knowledge.
- Can create a limited test plan to evaluate the influence of welding process parameters on the joints’ characteristics.
General competence:
After passing the course, the candidate:
- Can describe different common welding terms and codes based on the common standards.
- Can analyze information from WPS.
- Can analyze characteristics and challenges of welding processes for different metallic materials.
