- Understand how creativity techniques and solution generation are integrated into a development process.
- Have basic knowledge of machine design and mechanical principles.
- Understand the application of mechanics in machine design.
Skills
The candidate should be able to:
- Plan and execute a development project within given constraints.
- Develop user understanding and requirements specifications.
- Generate and evaluate original solutions based on requirements and needs.
- Dimension basic components according to loads.
- Create and apply models (virtual and physical) in the development process.
- Develop and build prototypes to demonstrate selected concepts and solutions.
- Apply development methodology.
- Prepare comprehensive development reports.
General Competence
The candidate should:
- Participate in creative processes and develop original solutions.
- Realize solutions through virtual and physical models.
- Contribute actively to development projects.
- Carry out projects within given time and resource constraints.
Teaching methods
Lectures and practical project work. Students will develop a technical product from early phase to functional prototype. The product must meet requirements defined by the students based on user and problem insights. Students will gain access to product development methods and learn to define customer requirements, identify technical solutions, and create rapid prototypes. Furthermore, they will carry out development, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of a functional prototype.
