About this course

Content

Academic content:
Sanitary engineering:
basic application of physical laws of flow in freshwater and wastewater pipes. Sizing of freshwater and wastewater pipes according to regulations. Pipework design for freshwater, wastewater and drainage. Outside pipes and equipment attached to the public water network. Warm water supply. Pump systems for freshwater and wastewater. Placement and use of sanitary equipment. Short introduction to measuring and leveling.

Housebuilding:
Basic building physics. Materials and components in the building process. Construction of foundation, walls, floor, and roof as well as wet rooms and other special rooms. Construction and description of ditches, hatches, and drainage.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcome:
Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge about sanitary technology and housing engineering with an emphasis on Scandinavian and Norwegian building tradition, as well as Norwegian regulations and Norwegian standards. Skills: The candidate should be able to dimension and construct sanitary plants in barley. Further, the candidate shall be able to communicate with architects, building advisers and other actors in the construction industry about building physics, building parts and building process. General competence: Candidate should have insight into opportunities and limitations when selecting solutions within the subject and further communicate this to various target groups both within and outside the discipline

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. A short course in leveling is in planning. Possibly visit(s) at buildings and companies. Self-study.
