About this course

Content

Academic content:
Thermal engineering basics, humid air, physiologic basis, thermal and atmospheric indoor air quality. Need for ventilation, regulations and recommendations, flow technology basics and sizing of channels. Main types of ventilation. Buoyance and fan-driven systems. Exhaust and air-supply systems. Warm-air systems, induction systems, two-channel systems and variable air volume (VAV) systems. Measurement and commissioning. Design criteria – ventilation, air conditioning, components, ventilation systems, and industrial ventilation.

Learning outcome
Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge of ventilation techniques with an emphasis on Scandinavian and Norwegian system build-up, as well as Norwegian regulations and Norwegian standards. Skills: The candidate should be able to dimension and construct ventilation systems in modern buildings. Further, the candidate shall be able to communicate with architects, building advisers and other actors in the construction industry about the integration of ventilation systems in the building and building process. General competence: The candidate should have insight into opportunities and limitations when selecting solutions within the subject and further communicate this to various target groups both within and outside the discipline.
