About this course

Content

Power ources and circuits. Electrical energi and power. Direct and alternating current. Multiphase systems, electrical machines, and transfer systems. Measurement and instrumentation. Digital controls, PLC, automatic control systems, process regulation, pneumatics, hydraulics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: The course aims to give basic knowledge about electrotechnical equipment, automated facilities, controlling and regulating technology, and to understand simple regulators. The candidate shall know about the structure and function principles of industrial robots. The candidate shall be able to understand hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

Skills: Shall be able to calculate simple electric circuits, and evaluate electrical equipment for mechanical constructions. Shall know the structure of an industrial robot and some methods for programming , to program PLC, and have skills in process regulation. The candidate shall be able to construct and calculate hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

General competence: The candidate shall understand the importance of environmental and safety issues as well as economic consequences of chosen solutions. The candidate shall be able to convey a variety of issues and solutions in mechatronics – to varied audiences in written and orally.

Teaching methods

Lectures, excercises incl excercises using pc and PLC.
