About this course

Content

The course's focus is on basic practical maintenance and operating techniques, with emphasis on the aim of maintenance and it's importance for maintaining operational regularity, safety, environment and economy. The course includes:
1. Introduction with focus on: Industry 4.0,machine learning,internet of things,maintenance terminology, maintenance types, failure mechanisms and failure development. 2. Reliability and analytical methods focusing on: Functionality, Lifetime Distributions (Weibull and exponential distribution),Availability Fundamental Risks and Reliability Analysis (HAZOP, Event tree, SJA, 5Why), Failure Mode and Failure Effect Analyzes (FMEA / FMECA), Fault tree analysis (FTA), System Reliability (Series / Parallel / K-Of N structure, redundancy). 3 Maintenance management focusing on: establishing maintenance objectives, goal management, score cards, maintenance strategy, action plan, maintenance management model (Ptil maintenance management loop), quality assurance of maintenance, bench-marking, organization of maintenance services. 4. Maintenance concept with focus on: Life cycle costs and profit (LCC, NPV), design of specifications, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Total Productive Maintenance / Management (TPM), Different Lean Tools. 5. Maintenance Systems (CMMS) Purpose of such systems, possibilities such systems provide, different modules in such systems. 6. Spare parts management. 7. Condition monitoring focusing on: Condition monitoring methodology,condition monitoring methods and equipment



Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the candidate shall have the following overall learning outcomes: Knowledge: The candidate has basic knowledge of the application of methods and systems for the practical organization and management of efficient maintenance.
In relation to ethics / innovation / digitization, the subject emphasizes developing the candidate's basis to reflect on:
ethics• Social impact from operation and maintenance. (eg: external and internal environment, competitiveness)
Innovation• Modern operation and maintenance affect its competitiveness and environment in the private and public sectors. (for example: new ways to organize maintenance, use state data for the purpose of utilizing residual life.)
Digitization• Possibilities of using digital tools in maintenance analysis, management / management and maintenance planning.

Skills: The candidate will have skills in practical maintenance that allows him / her to engage in leadership and maintenance skills in business and management.

Teaching methods

All lectures to be streamed. Recorded lectures to be placed on black board
Lectures, team work for problem solving during lectures. Guest lecturers from business and public administration are invited to give some of the lectures. Laboratory exercises/demonstrations of vibration monitoring and non destructive condition monitoring Methods.Possibly site visits to industrial plants.Volunteer supervised exercises , mandatory online exercises in black board.
