Advance Network Topics in ad hoc Networks

The course is taught every second year, next time fall 2015. Contact the lecturer for more information. The focus is on the network layer in ad hoc networks. It includes: Routing, capacity estimation, simulation and measurements, QoS, the interaction between directional antennas and routing, power control and routing.

A. Knowledge:
1) The student should have a profound understanding of routing in ad hoc networks.
2) A profound understanding of the state of the art of the research in the area.
3) A solid understanding of the interaction between network layer functions and functions in higher and lower layers.

B. Skills:
1) The ability to teach and discuss advanced ideas and concepts regarding routing in ad hoc networks.
2) The ability to perform a critical evaluation of protocols and analysis in the area.

Lectures, presentations by the participants, written reports and/or practical exercises. All or parts of course will be conducted as intensive seminars and/or by distance learning.

Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes written reports and/or practical exercises which count 60% and a trial lecture which counts 40%. The results for the parts are given in %-scores. The grading rule for the entire portfolio is pass/fail. The minimum passing grade is 70/100 points (70%).
