  • Material flow analysis, Layout, activity relationship, and area allocation.
  • Software tools in factory planning
  • Factory area, reception, and sending areas
  • Internal transport, cargo, and load carriers

Learning outcomes

KNOWLEDGE: The course is designed according to logistics engineers' need for the knowledge of: • Lean thinking, waste elimination and continuous improvement; Modern transport logistics and its importance for the flow of goods and competitiveness, different transport solutions, and criteria for choosing the mode of transport, green house effect and how ghg contributes and procedures for environmental accounting and calculation of carbon footprint & quot; legislation • Basic concepts and decisive factors in planning and designing facilities for efficient flow of materials and people, as well as various analysis methodologies and digital tools. In addition, the candidate will gain knowledge about load securing and packaging and load planning.

ETHICS: The candidate learns about the environmental effect of transportation produstion and consumption

INNOVATION: The candidate learns about innovative solutions in transport logistics and planning of factories and facilities.

DIGITALIZATION: The candidate learns about digital technology and tools for transport and factory planning. SKILLS: After taking this course, the candidate should be able to: • Conduct a survey of systems with a view to finding sources of losses and systematically working to reduce losses continuously; • Transportation logistics and environment: conduct surveys and establish activites to reduse the environmental impact of our activities. • Identify needs and resources for logistics within a factory or other facility and solve problems related to material flow design within a factory by analyzing layout models and design algorithms theoretically and using necessary modern engineering tools. The candidate should be able to assess the need for securing cargo in load carriers and on means of transport. The candidate should understand different types of packaging and its importance for value creation. The candidate should be able to evaluate various methods for securing cargo during loading and transport, both in qualitative and quantitative considerations. The candidate should be able to use aids for classification of dangerous goods.

GENERAL COMPETENCE: The candidate should be able to evaluate problems and find suitable methods for solving problems. The candidate should be able to give a critical assessment of his / her own solutions to physical and technical problems. The candidate should be able to solve problems in collaboration with others, as well as be able to communicate these.
