Applied Procedural Programming

Introduction to Fortran 90 and program development based on a procedural approach (specification, design, coding, testing and documentation). The bulk of the course is concerned with a programming project dealing with a computational task. The actual project problem depends on the choice of engineering discipline.

The aim is to provide the student with practical (hands on) experience with Fortran 90, in connection with a small, but comprehensive and typical engineering programming project.

The first part of the course (approx. 3 weeks) will consist of consentrated lecturing - Fortran 90 and develpoment of computationally demanding software. The remaining part will consist of a practical programming project, carried out in groups of 2-4 students. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
