About this course

Content

The specialization consists of modules giving a total sum 7.5 stp. Modules are often "Advanced process control" and "Model predictive control" . Other modules may also be chosen provided the student obtains permission from the co-ordinator.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students should: - Knowledge of mathematical modeling and quantitative methods (process systems engineerin) for design, simulation, control and optimization. - Be able to take a given real problem, and formulate it quantitatively (using a mathematical model) such that it can be solved using systems engineering techniques. - Know how to use Matlab or similar programs to solve process systems engineering problems. - Overview of process systems engineering field with understanding of which possibilities and limitations the field offers in terms of modelling, optimization, simulation and control.

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises, individual laboratory or project-based work under supervision.
