About this course
Content
The course is a further specialisation in Project Management and builds on courses in the first year of the International MSc in Project Management. The course provides the foundation for the Specialisation Project (TIØ5230) and Master Thesis (TIØ4920) and comprises (a) selected topics covering recent research on projects and their management and (b) a dedicated module on research skills.
Learning outcomes
The course is restricted to students who have an IØT specialisation in their 3rd semester of the International MSc in Project Management (PROMAN) and 9th semester MTIØT students who chose Project Management as their main profile.
- An overview of advanced themes within project management research. Topics to be covered in the course are selected to be relevant as the theoretical basis for the Specialisation Project and Master Thesis.
- Knowledge and understanding of the key methodological challenges and choices relevant for successful completion of a master thesis in the field of project management.
- Ability to handle literature reviews and apply critical thinking to analyse existing literature and develop own research.
- Ability to discuss theoretical concepts and ideas in project management research literature.
Teaching methods
The course has two modules: (a) A seminar series covering selected research topics on projects and their management, and (b) a Mandatory 2-day module on research skills. Active participation is expected in both modules.
