About this course

Content

The topic will illustrate the influence of working life on health, both for individuals and for society. The impact of work environment on health is underrated. At the same time a good working environment increases competitive power and the working life is a well suited arena for prophylactic work.

Learning outcomes

The topic aims at providing understandig
-of the interplay between the working environment and health, both for individuals and for society,
-of the main negative factors for health that can be encountered in modern Norwegian working life,
as well as basic knowledge of the main work-related diseases.

Teaching methods

Lectures and term assignment. Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (60%) and a term paper (40%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral.
