Engineering Geology, Planning and Specifications

The course consists of two parts: 1) Basic principles of engineering geological planning and specification and 2) Important laboratory investigation methods. The importance of sufficient site and laboratory investigation will be discussed, and also the significanse of correct reporting for planning and specification. Particular emphasis will be placed on discussing potential consequences of errors in the investigation report. Relevant Norwegian and international standards will be reviewed.

To offer the students an introduction to the main principles of engineering geological planning and specification, and an understanding of the signicance of field and laboratory data in this connection.

Lectures and colloquiums. laboratory work and field investigation. Laboratory and fieldwork are compulsory and reports are to be submitted. The reports will count for 50% of the final grade.
