About this course

Content

Computer based measurement techniques: Interfacing, converters, sensors. Connecting measuring devices to computers.

Computer lab: Graphical programming and virtual instrumentation and programming in LabVIEW. A selection of measurement and control assignments with the use of computers. Planning of experimental activities, data presentation, and reporting on experimental activities.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge.

The candidate should have knowledge of: Computer assisted measurement techniques including control of instruments, measurement equipment and data acquisition.

Skills.

The candidate should be able to: Estimate shortcomings which are imposed on experiments from data acquisition equipment.

General competence.

The candidate should be able to: Independently plan, carry out and report from experiments. The laboratory experiments should enable the candidate to use computers in applications of measurement techniques.

Teaching methods

Lectures and calculation exercises. Fundamental laboratory exercises and laboratory project work. Expected workload in the course is 225 hours.
