Content

Introduction to wave physics and fluid mechanics

Wave physics: Description of wave motion, harmonic waves, the wave equation, elastic waves, wave packets, wave phenomena, dispersion.

Continuum mechanics/ fluid mechanics: The continuum hypothesis, conservation laws, pressure, the control volume method, differential methods in flow systems, Navier-Stokes' equation. Various flow system.

The candidate shall:

  • achieve a basic understanding of wave physics and fluid mechanics,

The candidate shall:

  • learn to analyze various problems in wave physics and fluid mechanics with methods that involve differential and integral calculus be trained in analyzing problems in wave physics and fluid mechanics using ICT-based methods
  • develop experimental skills.

General competencies

The candidate shall:

  • develop collaborative skills.

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises, numerical and experimental projects. Expected workload in the course is 225 hours.
