Introduction to Nanotechnology

The cource will present an analysis of areas of relevance to subjects such as bionanotechnology, nanostructured materials, and nanoelectronics. The cource will focus on common techniques in order to understand the possibilites of nanotechnology. A section on ethical and environmental issues will also be presented.

The subject gives an introduction to central themes within nanotechnology, with emphasis on how this cross-disciplinary technology can increase understanding and promote novel products.

Knowledge:
Understand possibilities and limitations of nanotechnology in bionanotechnology, nanoelectronics and nanostructured materials for energy and environment. Understand ethical dilemma within nanotechnology.

Skills:
Use simple calculations to solve and analyze selected problems within nanotechnology.

General competence:
Collaborate to solve exercises.
Orally present results of own studies.

Lectures, mandatory excercises, laboratory demonstrations and groupwork. A continious evaluation based on the excercises and groupworks will be used, each will be graded in procent.
