About this course
Content
Theory for analog signal processing, implementation of analog and discrete-time filters. Sample-and-hold circuits, switched-capacitor circuits, data converter fundamentals, advanced transistor modeling. Use of electronic design automation tools.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide a thorough understanding of design of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits in CMOS for analog and discrete-time signal processing and data conversion.
Knowledge:
- understand the theoretical framework for analog signal processing and design of analog integrated circuits
- understand the theoretical framework for data conversion and implementation of data converters in CMOS
- understand techniques used for design of analog and mixed-signal CMOS integrated circuits
- know EDA tools used for simulation of analog and mixed-signal CMOS circuits.
Skills:
- combine earlier acquired knowledge and skills in math and electronics together with new theory to solve practical challenges in design of analog and mixed-signal CMOS circuits
- use professional EDA tools for design and simulation of analog and mixed-signal CMOS circuits
- design of advanced analog and mixed-signal CMOS circuits.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Assignments, both theoretical and computer based. Mandatory term project. Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (70%) and a term project (30%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. The course may be held in English.
