About this course

Content

In this subject, students have the opportunity to delve into one or more areas within the design subject in general and product design in particular. In this subject, the student must be able to systematically explore and immerse himself in design issues and methods.

The student must plan and carry out a creative design and development process, preferably with a focus on a chosen design specialization. The student must exercise critical reflection and have a dialogue with the target group or professionals the project focuses on, and it will be an important part of the project work to be documented. Presentations, tests, dialogue, exchange of experience and meetings with professionals and environments will be throughout this subject. The subject is aimed at academic specialization and professionalisation. The student must immerse himself in selected design subjects and present results from the process.

Current topics for in-depth study could be:

  • User-centred design and use of professional methods
  • Universal design principles and professional design approach
  • Aesthetic analysis and deepening in applied aesthetics and product semantics
  • Human factors, ergonomics and anthropometry
  • Digital technology applied in the exercise of product design
  • Materials, production methods and product design
  • Physical model building for testing and verification of product design
  • Sustainable material use, circularity and product design
