Language and communication 3

TEGN2006 is based on TEGN2000, TEGN2011 and TEGN2012. Here students will continue to develop their knowledge about, and skills in, using language in general, and Norwegian Sign Language and Norwegian in particular. Students will participate in formal and informal conversations and discussions on a variety of themes in Norwegian Sign Language, to learn to adapt their communication to different people and situations. Students will also begin work on a literature review as preparation for their Bachelor’s thesis.

Candidates

• Can understand Norwegian Sign Language produced in normal tempo provided they are used to the speaker's idiolect
• Can express themselves in Norwegian Sign Language that is mainly free from disturbing mistakes
• Can participate in conversations and discussions in Norwegian Sign Language
• Can communicate knowledge about language and communication in Norwegian Sign Language and Norwegian
• Can plan and conduct a small literature study on a topic relevant to the course
• Have knowledge about the basic differences between direct communication and interpreter mediated communication

• Lectures, group discussions, literature search, planning a literature study, exercises, develop own linguistic abilities.
• 80% compulsory attendance.
• Approved obligatory assignments are valid for three semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following two semesters). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.
