Norwegian Sign Language 3, including practicum

TEGN2000 is based on TEGN1103. Through both class room teaching and different types of practicum the student will acquire a broader and more nuanced communicative repertoire in Norwegian Sign Language. Students will participate in more demanding conversations, and be able to understand and express more complex content. In TEGN2000 the student will begin to acquire strategies to adapt their communication to individuals with varying communicative needs, for example deaf blind persons. At this level, students are required to work with flow and coherence in their production of Norwegian Sign Language, and reflect on their own linguistic development in order to identify areas that need further development.

Candidates

• Can understand longer and more demanding discourse in Norwegian Sign Language
• Can produce different types of discourse in Norwegian Sign Language demonstrating a varied vocabulary and some degree of grammatical correctness
• Can participate in conversations on professional and everyday themes of different degrees of difficulty
• Can use their knowledge of Norwegian Sign Language to identify areas that need further development

• Communication excercises, to understand and produce Norwegian Sign Language.
• Participation in recommended signed language arenas in Trondheim.
• Communication practicum and participation in 'Døves kulturdager' and open professional days (if arranged during the semester). Introduction to tactile Norwegian Sign Language.
• 80% compulsory attendance.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid for three semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following two semesters). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.

Obligatory practicum: TEGN2000 includes one week of obligatory communication practicum and participation in 'Døves kulturdager' and open professional days (if arranged during the semester). Usually the one week communication practicum is arranged at the University, with hired actors that the students communicate with. Practicum is graded: Pass or Fail.
