Digitalization and Business Processes

Businesses and other organizations are today dependent on good technical information systems, including communication solutions, interaction systems, project management tools, etc.

In this course, students will learn to deal with this complexity through training in processes related to the implementation and introduction of information systems.

The students will also gain knowledge about process and business modelling. The course will enable students to organize and adapt implementation processes in relation to the needs of organisations.

After completing the course, the following overall learning outcomes should be achieved:

Knowledge

Students must be able to:

• Give examples of how information systems can be implemented and adapted to specific needs.
• Account for the types of needs in an organization that can typically influence how information systems are to be configured and adapted.
• Explain which needs and guidelines are decisive for choosing different information systems.

Skills

Students must:

• Demonstrate basic setup and associated options in relevant tools for process and business modeling.
• Be able to utilize the core functionality of selected modeling tools and contribute to systems training in relation to this.
• Be able to implement current information systems based on specific needs.
• Be able to identify challenges in relation to the implementation and introduction of information systems and contribute with appropriate solutions in relation to these challenges.

General competence

Students must be able to:

• Contribute to new thinking and new application of information systems in an organizational context.
• Contribute to the tools working in interaction with the users so that they contribute to good work processes.
• Ensure good facilitation of technological solutions so that the solutions can actually be utilised.
• Contribute to user training that avoids negative consequences for the collaboration.

Various forms of work and learning activities will be used with a combination of lectures, student presentations and essay writing.
