About this course
Content
Static equilibrium. Trusses and frame structures. Axial, shear, bending moment and torsion. Compression and tension . Elasticity, plasticity and fracture. Displacements. Mohr diagram. Statically indeterminate systems. Buckling. The subject will be the foundation for more detailed and complex issues and calculations in topics coming in 2nd and 3rd year of the study.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: The student will have acquired the necessary basis for describing how forces and load influent on a construction. Skills: The student will have received the necessary training in calculating the forces, support reactions and deflections of simple trusses and frame constructions. General competence: The student will have gained insight into basic prinsiples of equilibrium and elasticity and how mathematical models are used for describing and solving problems.
